As seen in the North Shore News:
Donating Bikes and Supporting Kids Being Brave
We are playing a big game this year. A big bike game for the kids in our community.
The weather is turning and the slopes are losing snow. Bike season is upon us. For many of us on the North Shore that’s our reminder to get the bikes out of the garage, pump up the tires and start turning the pedals. We are excited by the new season and all the adventures we can get up to. It’s like being a kid again: playing outside, pedaling away from our chores and having fun being healthy.
But it’s not like that for every family and certainly not for every child on the North Shore.
The North Shore is one of the world’s wealthiest municipalities yet unknown to many of us a vast number of North Shore families don’t have the same opportunities as most. They live in the best place on earth but live far less privileged lives than most of us do. In fact many struggle with the demands of providing basic security and nourishment. Sad but true. And quietly this happens right under our noses.
Places like the Harvest Project and many churches see first hand the needs that some of our families have. In speaking with these non-profits we are shown a world where the new season means the same as the last. It means a struggle and hard work trying to support a family. We see their children full of creativity and hope but no real access to opportunities that will support them building a future.
In honour of the biking season and through the desire to support our North Shore youth growing up with confidence and the bravery to build a wonderful future, a new cycling team has been formed: Polartec Team John Henry Bikes powered by Ethical Bean.
The goal: give 100 children a new bike and one full week of bike camps…and grow our communities full of Brave Kids!
Follow the team as they share their stories of training, bike riding adventures and their event finishes all in support of raising awareness and donations for our disadvantaged youth.

Riding never meant so much to so many.
Live to ride.
