Founded in 1992 on the hills of the North Shore by John, Sylvia and Willie Henry, John Henry Bikes is a full service bike shop that carries everything from pro level downhill bikes to children's bikes and event ready road machines.

Who's Behind John Henry Bikes

The Platinum Award Winning Bike Store voted by North Shore residents [10 years in a row as best bike store] and past winner of Best bike shop in Canada is led by John Henry, the retail veteran of 47 years, his wife Sylvia, sales associate to the stars for over 30 years, and Entrepreneur of the Year Nominee and author Willie Cromack. This dynamic trifecta has engineered more cycling events and rides than most people have even been on.

These three have built on a foundation of their passion to bring a diverse group of talented individuals to the store so they can help each and every style of customer. They believe in their mission and have put on countless events to encourage new riders to learn and take up the sport of cycling.

We have built our reputation by helping customers become passionate about the outdoors and riding their new bikes. From repairing a bike quickly to finding the right bike for anyone's budget John Henry Bikes has and will continue to strive to improve people's lives through cycling.

Established youth riding groups and adult clubs to provide regular scheduled riding opportunities for all levels of cyclists
Donated over $500,000 in time and money to various charities through the power of the bike

John Henry Bikes is committed to training our employees and team members to live by the mission of creating riders and rigorously educates the team about being great. Some of past employees have gone on to become industry reps, open their own companies and our team now consists of two past bike shop owners and one Mountain Bike Hall of Fame inductee.

Our History

Since building wheels through the night on the back patio in 1993 John Henry Bikes has increased the number of people under its roof and increased its ability to create riders of everyone.

During the tight years we remained focused on the experience rather than selling products and to this day you will always find John Henry Bikes discussing what riding opportunities are available.

Since we first opened we have grown an organic cycling club that boasted over 600 members, have been involved in events that have drawn over 500 people and have raised awareness and money through cycling for associations like Canuck Place, Crohn's and Colitis, Cystic Fibrosis, Trail Advocacy and hundreds of scholastic youth based cycling endeavors.
