Free Drop-in Basic Bike Maintenance Course

Are you scared that you will get a flat tire in the middle of no where? Will you know what to do if your chain brakes? Get the basic, plain spoken lesson at John Henry the Bicycle Man's “Drop-in Bike Maintenance Course”. Every Thursday night, all year long you'll be able to drop down to the store for a basic lesson on simple bike tech. Class starts at 7pm and finishes roughly at 8pm. The coffee shop will always be open for you to moisten the palette while learning to fix a flat tire or a broken chain.
Lessons you will learn are fixing a flat tire, replacing a worn tube or tire, fixing a broken chain, and learning to acknowledge careful safety precautions.

Riding Clinics

Who do you ride with and where do you ride? “Pedals and Pints” Riding Club is the perfect place to start for a free, modestly instructed, casual riding atmosphere. If you want to be instructed on the finer points of riding check out the RecGroup. Clinics from basic to advanced, mountain, adventure racing, and road are offered for a very modest fee. Generally taught by a John Henry certified instructor RecGroup courses are a great way to improve your technical ability. Whether you are training for an event like seas2summit, trying to improve your confidence, or going on a tour these fun balanced classes can help all levels of riders.

Taught over two days you are taken from the most basic of lessons through to fully overhauling your bicycles bearing groups. Gears, brakes, wheels, and all the intricate details are carefully gone over by our fully trained, experienced, and certified mechanics. Courses purchased through the Lucas Centre, The Outdoor Pursuits/Rec Centre programs, or at John Henry the Bicycle Man carry on through out the year and are held right at the store. As usual John Henry the Cappuccino Man is open so that you can keep a buzz for all that you will learn. Educational Seminars and Popular Events

Through the RecGroup, sea2summit, Storm the North Shore, local High School races, our own racers, suppliers to the shop, and of course our own staff we often offer insight through education. Speeches, training nights, courses designed to help you in certain events are all offered and can be found at our calendar of events.
John Henry supports as many charities as possible and is involved in the sponsorship of several local events. Cycling is inclusive and all of us should support that concept.
