How do you feel about that next gym workout when you creak out of bed after a pounding sweat-session the day before? Stiff, sore, and aching you can't believe that another thumping workout is just around the corner. How can you manage the pain and aches without losing any of your fitness, workout time, adventure, or that endorphin high you need from physical expenditure?

Sunday Road Rides

The Sunday Road rides by John Henry are on! Every Sunday morning at 9:30am there will be a road ride heading out from the store for a few hours of fun, exercise, and beautiful scenery. The intensity and riding route will vary depending on who shows up on any given Sunday morning. All riders of all ages, fitness levels, and skill levels are welcome. The purpose of these rides are to get together and ride in a group atmosphere and have fun with other people that also love to ride. It is also a great way to work on your group riding skills and fitness levels.

The routes will vary depending on how the group feels when they get together on Sunday morning. Some of the route options are:

1) Heading to Stanley Park, via the Lions Gate Bridge, doing a couple of laps and heading back (moderate)
2) Heading over the Lions Gate Bridge to NW Marine Drive, head out to UBC and then back (moderate/intermediate)
3) Head out to Deep Cove and then up Seymour and back to the store (intermediate)
4) Heading out to Horseshoe Bay on the lower level and back on the upper level and head up Cypress then back to the store (intermediate)
5) For the mountain goats we can do a double whammy; Cypress and Seymour (advanced)

These rides will be about 2-3 hours in length. If enough people show up we will try to split into intermediate and advanced level groups. So dust off your road bike, come on out and have a great time!

Alien Adventures Rides

We are going to trial using the same schedule for the next two months for Alien Adventures. We will still meet for a 10am start time at the specified location in the table below. We try our best to be finished by 12 noon , but with mountain biking there are often unforeseen delays, flat tires etc.! At this stage the weekends that we meet at John Henry's to ride Seymour Mountain we have organised for the HUKK Wagon to pick us up. This is a shuttle service for mountain bikers which runs on weekends to transport riders to the trailheads. It is a fully insured service and is licensed to carry up to 10 people. There is a charge of $8 per person to use this service. It will save everyone from driving up the mountain. Those parents who would prefer drive to the trailhead please do so – but please still meet at John Henry's so we know how many riders we have for the day.

Can parents please ensure that their child has a well maintained mountain bike, appropriate safety gear including helmet, gloves, leg and arm pads. They must also carry their own water and snacks. We also recommend that every Alien carry a spare tube, tire levers, patch kit and pump.
