John Henry Wrote Some Books?!!?

Willie Cromack, partner of John Henry Bikes, has just published two more unique books and is now taking orders on these awesome empowerment tools.

The first book, The Principles of the Ride, is a tale of the epic Team H2V and their race across Canada for Juvenile Diabetes. The best part of this book is that $10 from every book goes towards JDRF. Life lessons from a bicycle seat.

The second book is a coffee table collection of articles that five authors, including Willie, have put together to help people live their best lives. Swim Upstream is a powerful book of over 100 insightful stories and thoughts.

Take a look here or pop down to the store to peruse the books and don't forget to check out the daily blog at http://swimpupstream.blogspot.com/ to see what else is new in the way of unconventional thought or the bicycle being used to change the world.

Mountain Bike Operations Certificate

You are reading this because on some level you have been touched by mountain biking. Mountain Biking is the number one developing sport around the world and is bringing cycling back to the people as a way to recreate, work and commute but really to have fun! One of the conditions to having a sustainable sport is it's ability to educate and Capilano College in British Columbia is a facility that does just that.

The Mountain Bike Operations program is in it's second year and looking to move into the future offering a 1 year, 2 semester program that includes courses like; -event management -wilderness first aid -guiding -environmental stewardship -tourism -Sustainable trail building -Advanced trail building -Risk management

The course has a 90% hiring rate and organizations like Whistler, Rossland Trail Society, Hoots, Silverstar and Sun Peaks have taken advantage of these experienced students.

I instruct trail building courses with Mark from IMBA Canada and am surrounded by an incredible talent pool of instructors that create the foundation for the course.

Registration for the last 2 years has been moderate filling 70% capacity with little to no marketing, however the course needs some solid numbers in the immediate future if it is to be continued and sustainable, especially with the high level of committed instructors currently on staff.

Marketing is a tough gig for the school and each instructor has been asked for ideas on how to increase enrolment. My idea is to contact you, media, industry, builders, riders and friends to spread the word as best as you can, offer another education choice thru the medium you know best. I don't believe in free rides but I do think this program is a terrific story and I believe that this program will enhance our entire sport on so many profound levels.
